About Tita

I am a lifelong enthusiast about everything space and have had a lifetime of moving experiences. When I was a young girl, I became entranced in everything about space – the equipment to take us there, the images we see, the exotic things you would find in space. When I was 8 years old, I wore a hat emblazoned with the Apollo 13 mission patch for at least two years straight after attending Space Camp. I was always fascinated with the night sky and wondered what was really up there. After I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science & Engineering, I worked as a research technician for a few years before deciding that education was my true calling. Today, I am grateful to share my love of space with the scientists of the future. I am now a high school science educator sharing my love of all things space with my physics and astronomy classes. I have been teaching in the high school classroom since 2016 after graduating with my Master of Arts in Secondary Science Education.

In addition to my love of space, I love to experience movement. I started taking dance classes when I was 3 years old, but it wasn’t until I reached high school that I found a true love of movement. I started my colorguard journey in high school when I stayed after school one January day to help my mother fit the newly formed winterguard for costumes. I stepped in the next day to fill a spot that had opened, and within that first rehearsal, I knew my life had changed forever. I have been involved in the colorguard activity for over 23 years, as a performer in various programs over the years, including my high school winterguard group (SCGC, WGI), collegiate marching band, various independent winterguard organizations (SCGC, SAPA, WGI), and drum corps (DCI, DCA). I began my teaching career in 2010 as a high school colorguard director and have since expanded to providing workshops and adjudication to various groups around the south. Teaching colorguard was the catalyst to step away from engineering to become an educator.

Along my movement journey, I deepened my love for intentional movement after breaking my foot in 2013. The recovery process from my injury brought me back to exploring yoga and all its benefits. After finding my local yoga home, I earned my 200 hour yoga teaching certification & level one barre burn certification in 2021 & 2022. I earned my 85 hour certification for prenatal yoga in 2024. I teach weekly barre & yoga classes at a local studio.
